Application Development Technical Support - (Contract to Hire)

This is a technical support position supporting all aspects of the GenTax® COTS (Commercial Off -The Shelf Software) application.

This resource will provide technical support to the application development staff and Management while interacting with existing network and database personnel.

Technical Team Responsibilities:

Provide technical representation on a project team from definition to delivery

Specific tasks include:

Hardware specification and procurement

Setup, configure and maintain n-tier environments, including: Application servers, Web servers, Web services, Database servers

The ability to interface equally well with various levels of technical personnel, subject matter experts, senior level stakeholders, developers, and project managers

Strong technical development background in at least one relevant technology, along with commercial and technical experience developed in a fast-moving web environment

SQL Server or Oracle RDMS administration, including: High availability design and installations, Performance analysis and tuning, Backup and recovery, Disaster recovery

Experience building high-performance, reliable, large-scale database systems in a complex, multi-tiered, distributed environment

VMWare installation, configuration, and support

Working understanding of Storage Area Networks

Security specification and reviews

SQL optimization and application troubleshooting

Update internal documentation as applicable

Disaster recovery planning and implementation

On-call support

Minimum Requirements:

Candidates must possess a Bachelors degree in the technology arena

- AWS cloud experience

5+ years experience in infrastructure architecture, database architecture and networking

- Good working knowledge of Oracle

- Good working knowledge of SQL Server

- Working knowledge of running applications Windows Servers - Infrastructure Support

- Some basic knowledge of being able to troubleshoot network issues

- Some knowledge as to how to request firewall changes needed for an application

- Good research and analysis ability

- Willingness to be on-call and work outside the normal work schedule

- Ability to research and work with Active Directory security groups

Preferred Qualifications:

Server Administration experience

Network administration experience

Experience in MS Visual Basic.Net

Strong analytical and communication skills

Enthusiasm and eagerness to learn

Working knowledge of software development methodologies, standards, coding best practices, Java/J2EE, XML, debugging and operational procedures

Working knowledge of SQL Server or Oracle RDMS administration

DOR will conduct a background check on all candidates considered for the position. Individuals must be compliant with Georgia tax obligations.

Candidates must be willing to relocate to Georgia for at least the duration of the project, if not already a resident of Georgia.
