About the job Accounts Officer (NSW)
NATA is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Accounts Officer to join our Finance team on a 16 months Full Time Fixed Term contract for Maternity leave. The Finance Department delivers a range of essential services including accounting, payroll, business reporting, and analytics to support both internal stakeholders and corporate operations.
Reporting to the Senior Accountant, you will be responsible for the accounting, financial, and clerical functions for NATA and its subsidiaries, Proficiency Testing Australia (PTA) and NATA Education and Advisory Services (NEAS). You will be responsible for ensuring that all financial transactions are accurately recorded and maintained in a timely manner. In addition, you will provide general administrative support and assist with a range of ad-hoc tasks, including accounts receivable (AR) and accounts payable (AP) functions.
Key Responsibilities:
General administration and ad-hoc tasks to support the team which may include Accounts receivable/payable, Cab charge/credit card/travel expenses and other project work as assigned.
Finance functions including, but not limited to:
- Customer cash receipt processing (EFT, credit cards, cheques)
- Monitor and reconcile customer accounts to ensure customer payments are up to date and all customers invoices/credit notes are posted
- Bank reconciliation on the supplier/customer payments
- Supporting AP and AR as required
- Dealing with account enquiries from customers, suppliers and employees
- Process suppliers invoices and credit notes (code invoices and input into the system)
- Process expense reimbursement (assessors claim-checking, input and payment)
- Process payments run (EFT, BPAY, Credit card) and uploading to bank portal (EFT) including a refund to supplier/customer (if any).
Skills and experience
- Strong attention to detail and a high level of accuracy, particularly when working in a fast-paced environment
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively with a broad range of internal and external stakeholders
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and familiarity with Microsoft Dynamics and Xero or similar account packages
- A willingness and ability to quickly learn new systems and processes
- A degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline (highly regarded)
