Position overview:
The Mechanical & Deployable Systems Lead is responsible for the structural and mechanical design of the deployable antenna panels, including deployment mechanisms, stiffness validation, and thermo-elastic behavior assessment.
The role covers concept definition, detailed design, structural analysis, manufacturing support and participation in testing activities.
Tasks:
- Definition of deployable panel mechanical architecture
- Structural modelling and stiffness assessment
- Thermo-elastic behavior analysis
- Trade-off analysis between mass, stiffness and dimensional stability
- Deployment mechanism concept evaluation
- Mechanical interface definition
- Support to integration and verification activities
- Contribution to compliance matrix and technical reviews
- Act as the responsible engineer for structural and deployment aspects
- Interface with the RF and system engineering teams
- Contribute to risk assessment and mitigation
- Support design reviews and test validation activities
Requirements:
- Degree (BSc or MSc) in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or related discipline
- Several years of experience in space structures, deployable mechanisms or satellite mechanical subsystems
- Participation in at least one satellite or space-related hardware development project
- Experience supporting qualification, acceptance or environmental testing activities is highly desirable
- Exposure to flight hardware or flight-adjacent hardware development is considered an asset
- Structural FEA tools (ANSYS, Nastran or equivalent)
- Basic understanding of thermal distortion in space environment
- Experience with lightweight structural design
- Knowledge of satellite mechanical integration constraints
- Familiarity with ECSS mechanical standards is desirable
