Tasks:
As an experienced export control officer, you will ensure that all customs, export, and arms control-related processes are handled in accordance with the law. In this key position, you will be responsible for compliance with legal regulations and, thanks to your expertise in these areas, will act as an advisor and contact person for internal departments, management, authorities, and external partners.
- Responsible for ensuring compliance with export control laws (DE/EU/US), the War Weapons Control Act (KrWaffKontrG), and customs regulations both internally and across locations
- Clarification, consultation, and evaluation of licensing issues relating to export control
- Responsible for license management, including application, administration, deadline tracking, modification, renewal, and monitoring of conditions for licenses and other notices
- Responsible for the assessment, approval, and documentation of all business transactions in relation to export control law (DE/EU/US), the KrWaffKontrG, and customs
- Collaboration and ensuring communication with all internal and external parties involved in the approval process, including the relevant approval authorities (e.g., BAFA, BMWE, BMVg, etc.)
- Preparation, support, and follow-up of official audits (e.g., foreign trade audits)
- Maintaining the war weapons register and monitoring inventory and documentation as well as the proper storage of war weapons
- Monitoring export control-related legislation for updates and, if necessary, implementing changed requirements
- Further development and continuous optimization of existing processes, including the creation of guidelines and instructions
- Design and implementation of target group-oriented training courses and other awareness-raising measures
- Reporting to the export manager
Requirements:
- Completed degree in foreign trade or customs law or comparable field
- Relevant expertise in national and international export regulations, including the War Weapons Control Act and customs law
- Many years of experience in the field of defense technology and good product knowledge
- Goal-oriented and independent way of working as well as assertiveness
- Experience in structuring processes
- Quick comprehension and analytical thinking
- Negotiation and communication skills
- Business fluent English and German skills (spoken and written)
- Willingness to travel
