Role & Objective

We are seeking a highly experienced Technical Lead / Software Architect to take full technical ownership of the redevelopment of the Bundesbank Forecasting System, primarily implemented in MATLAB. The role involves leading architecture design, guiding the development team, and ensuring code quality throughout the project lifecycle. You will work closely with the project manager, Bundesbank stakeholders, and domain experts.

Core Responsibilities

• Lead architecture and data flow design for complex components including CSV parsing, Troll model API integration, GUI modules, and automated report generation.
• Collaborate with the PM to conduct sprint planning and break down user stories into actionable tasks.
• Serve as the gatekeeper for code reviews (Git pull requests, merge approvals) and enforce software quality standards.
• Coordinate EVB-IT acceptance documentation, including test protocols and delivery packages.
• Track technical risks and security issues in collaboration with project governance.
• Mentor team members through pair programming, internal training (e.g., brown-bag sessions), and code reviews.

Must-Have Skills

• 10+ years of hands-on experience with MATLAB/Simulink, especially in data- or model-driven environments.
• Deep knowledge of Troll models, macroeconomic simulation engines, or equivalent complex forecasting systems.
• Strong background in software architecture principles, including clean code, modular monorepos, and Git-flow workflows.
• Experience in regulated environments, particularly with EVB-IT contracts or similar government frameworks.
• Proven agile leadership in software projects, including use of Scrum, velocity tracking, and RACI methodology.

Soft Skills

• Decisive and structured communicator in English.
• Confident in presenting complex technical concepts to expert panels and stakeholders.
• A natural mentor and coach who fosters growth and knowledge-sharing within the team.

Nice-to-Have (Preferred but not required)

• Experience integrating forecasting systems with external economic data providers (ECB, BMWK).
• Exposure to documentation automation and video-based tutorial development.
• Familiarity with security compliance and ISO 27001-related reporting.
