Position: Quality Assurance Engineer

Location: Greifswald, Germany

Type: Full-time

Start Date: September 1, 2025

The Max Planck Institute for Plasma Physics (IPP) conducts cutting-edge research on the fundamentals of a fusion power plant. This position supports the technical expansion of the plasma experiment at the IPP Greifswald location.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Plan and monitor quality assurance measures during manufacturing, assembly (especially of welded components, orbital welds, special materials), and system operation particularly in vacuum technology
  • Verify compliance with agreed technological procedures for experimental operations
  • Enforce required quality standards across internal and external work stages
  • Conduct visual inspections (VT) in line with nondestructive testing (NDT) standards and IPP internal inspection guidelines (including borescope/videoscope/UV-light as needed)
  • Perform VT inspections according to DIN EN ISO 9712 Level 2
  • Evaluate and document inspection and measurement results

Required Qualifications:

  • Completed university degree (Diploma FH or Bachelor) in mechanical engineering or a related discipline
  • Good knowledge of German and English
  • Professional experience in manufacturing and testing of mechanical components, especially welded assemblies
  • Knowledge and application of ISO 9001 in quality planning and assurance
  • Valid NDT certification according to DIN EN ISO 9712, minimum VT Level 2
