Location: Bonn Hardtberg, Frankfurt, Berlin, München, Wilhelmshaven, Rheinbach, Leipzig (One person will be hired for each location)

Position Overview
The System Administrator is responsible for analyzing, implementing, and documenting firewall configurations within a secure IT infrastructure environment. The role ensures that required network communications are enabled in a compliant and secure manner while adhering to established IT security standards and policies.
Key Responsibilities
Firewall Request Processing
- Analyze and evaluate incoming firewall access requests from ticketing systems
- Review technical requirements such as source and destination systems, ports, protocols, and communication flows
- Coordinate with requestors, application owners, and network teams to clarify requirements
- Assess requests in accordance with IT security policies
Firewall Rule Implementation
- Configure and implement firewall rules in centralized and decentralized environments
- Modify existing rule sets following the principle of least privilege
- Execute changes in accordance with established change management procedures
- Ensure minimal impact on existing network communication
Testing & Validation
- Perform functional testing of implemented firewall rules
- Analyze network traffic and system logs to identify and resolve issues
- Support validation activities with relevant stakeholders
Documentation
- Maintain accurate and complete documentation of firewall configurations
- Update network documentation and configuration records
- Ensure all changes are documented in compliance with audit and regulatory requirements
Operations & Optimization
- Regularly review firewall rules for relevance, efficiency, and security compliance
- Identify and remove outdated or redundant rules
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of firewall and network processes
Qualifications & Skills
Education & Certifications
- Degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field, or equivalent vocational training
- Certification in networking or security technologies (e.g., CCNP or comparable) is preferred
Professional Experience
- At least 2 years of experience in network administration or a similar role
- Practical experience in firewall administration and network environments
Technical Skills
- Solid understanding of firewall technologies and network protocols
- Experience with IT service management and change management processes
- Ability to analyze network traffic and troubleshoot connectivity issues
- Familiarity with ticketing systems and documentation processes
Languages
- German: C1 level
- English: B1 level
