Job Title: Optimization Specialist
Location: Remote – Colombia
Type of Contract: Full-Time | Remote | Contractor
Salary Range: Market Rates
Language Requirements: Fluent English

We are seeking a skilled Optimization Specialist with strong experience in mathematical optimization, operations research, and applied analytics to join our growing team. You will play a key role in designing, building, and deploying optimization-driven solutions that solve complex business problems across supply chain, operations, pricing, and resource planning. Your work will directly impact client decision-making, efficiency, cost reduction, and measurable business performance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and implement optimization models (linear, mixed-integer, nonlinear, stochastic) to solve real-world business problems.

  • Translate business requirements into mathematically sound and computationally efficient optimization formulations.

  • Build end-to-end optimization solutions, including data preparation, model development, testing, and deployment.

  • Collaborate with data scientists, engineers, and client stakeholders to integrate optimization models into broader analytics and AI solutions.

  • Analyze model outputs, generate insights, and clearly communicate recommendations to technical and non-technical audiences.

  • Support client engagements through problem scoping, solution design, and delivery of high-quality analytical outputs.

  • Continuously improve model performance, scalability, and robustness based on real-world constraints and feedback.

Must-Have Qualifications

  • 3–7+ years of experience in optimization, operations research, applied mathematics, or advanced analytics roles.

  • Strong hands-on experience with optimization techniques such as linear programming, mixed-integer programming, network optimization, or heuristics/metaheuristics.

  • Proficiency with optimization tools and languages such as Python (Pyomo, PuLP, OR-Tools), Gurobi, CPLEX, or similar solvers.

  • Experience applying optimization in business contexts such as supply chain, logistics, operations, pricing, or resource allocation.

  • Ability to work directly with client data and ambiguous problem statements to deliver practical, implementable solutions.

  • Strong analytical thinking, problem-solving skills, and attention to detail.

  • Excellent written and spoken English communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working in consulting or professional services environments.

  • Familiarity with data science and machine learning concepts and how they integrate with optimization.

  • Experience deploying optimization models into production systems or decision-support tools.

  • Advanced degree in Operations Research, Industrial Engineering, Applied Mathematics, Computer Science, or a related field.

This role is ideal for someone who enjoys tackling complex decision problems, building rigorous optimization models, and delivering solutions that drive tangible business impact for U.S.-based clients.
