Location: 100% Remote, Canada

Role Summary

NearSource is looking for a Software Test Automation Engineer to join our engineering team, contributing to a project with a global leader in the design software space. The role focuses on delivering robust XR experiences by leading test automation efforts across Unreal Engine-based applications.

Key Responsibilities

  • Automate existing manual test plans in collaboration with QA Engineers
  • Drive unit and integration testing initiatives across the development lifecycle
  • Align with Product Management to understand and validate functional requirements
  • Architect and maintain test strategies, plans, and frameworks for automated testing
  • Develop and execute automated test scripts across the software stack
  • Maintain comprehensive test run documentation, including issues and resolutions
  • Analyze and report on product quality and performance metrics
  • Mentor team members on best practices in automated testing and framework usage

Must-Have Skills

  • 5+ years in a Software Development Engineer in Test (SDET) role
  • Proficient in Unreal Engine, including C++ and Blueprints
  • Strong command of Modern C++ (C++11)
  • Proficient in Python scripting and automation
  • Demonstrated expertise in automated test process design and bug lifecycle management
  • Experience addressing testing challenges in graphics and multi-user environments
  • Strong analytical skills and data-driven problem-solving
  • Effective collaboration and communication abilities

Nice-to-Have Skills

  • Experience automating tests for XR (AR/VR) applications
  • Background in mobile automation testing, especially Android
  • Familiarity with AEC and CAD tools such as Revit or Navisworks
  • Understanding of test strategies for non-traditional user interfaces (e.g., gaming)
  • Exposure to automated testing of web or cloud-based platforms
