Overview

A well-established engineering and project delivery business is seeking an Electrical Estimator to join its pre-construction team in London.

This role will suit someone with strong commercial awareness and a solid background in electrical estimating, who is comfortable preparing competitive and accurate tenders for a wide range of projects.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare accurate electrical estimates in line with tender documentation, drawings and specifications
  • Review project scope and identify labour, material, plant and subcontract requirements
  • Produce detailed costings using estimating software and internal pricing tools
  • Issue and manage tender queries to clarify technical and commercial details
  • Obtain and assess quotations from suppliers, subcontractors and specialist contractors
  • Carry out cost comparisons and benchmark pricing where required
  • Attend site visits or tender review meetings where necessary
  • Support the preparation of tender submissions and associated commercial documents
  • Contribute to risk and opportunity assessments during bid preparation
  • Assist with handover to delivery teams at pre-contract stage
  • Liaise with internal teams including commercial, project, design and procurement functions throughout the tender process

Candidate Requirements

  • Minimum 5 years' experience in an Electrical Estimator role, or a strong electrical trade / technical background combined with estimating experience
  • Good understanding of electrical systems, installations and associated project costs
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, specifications and tender documents
  • Experience using estimating software and standard Microsoft Office tools
  • Strong numeracy and commercial awareness
  • Able to manage deadlines and prioritise workload across multiple tenders
  • Comfortable working both independently and as part of a wider bid or pre-construction team
  • Strong communication skills with a proactive and organised approach

Desirable Background

  • Previous experience working on projects within energy, utilities, renewables, pharmaceutical, manufacturing, industrial or data centre environments
  • Exposure to M&E or multi-disciplinary project environments
  • Experience attending site surveys, tender interviews or pre-contract meetings
  • Knowledge of current market rates, subcontractor pricing and supply chain engagement
