Reports To: Machine Shop Manager
Classification: Full-Time (40 hours per week)
Compensation: $25-35 per hour
Location: On-Site, Cleveland, TX

- Job Summary
The Tool & Die Machinist is responsible for setting up and operating machine tools—including lathes, boring machines, drill presses, and grinders—to machine forgings according to specifications. This role requires interpreting blueprints and sketches while applying machining knowledge to ensure precision and quality. This person is also responsible for managing Tool & Die personnel, training, and resourcing.
- Requirements & Qualifications to Get Job
- Minimum of seven (7) years of experience in a machine shop environment with the ability of troubleshooting mold repairs
- Technical school and/or certification
- Proficiency in basic math, including addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, & fraction-to-decimal conversions.
- Ability to use simple hand tools and measuring instruments.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, CAD, work orders, and technical documents.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to visually inspect equipment and products.
- Ability to safely operate heavy machinery while maintaining awareness of surroundings.
- Capability to apply pressure in multiple directions to tighten and loosen hardware.
- Ability to weld (TIG for Master Tool & Die Roles)
- Able to train entry-level Tool & Die (For Master Tool & Die Roles)
- 18 years or older and legally authorized to work in the U.S.
- Able to communicate in English
- High school diploma / GED
- Wear personal protective equipment (PPE), including but not limited to: eye & hearing protection, gloves, steel-toed boots, hard hat, and flame-retardant work clothes, etc.
- Able to lift up to 50 lbs. & work in varying environmental conditions (heat, dust, noise, vibration, humidity).
- Preferences to Get Job
- Basic computer literacy.
- Experience with CNC machine operation and programming.
- Journeymen (for Master Tool & Die Roles)
- What you do on Job
- Set up and operate machine tools such as lathes, boring machines, drill presses, and grinders.
- Set up and operate machine tools to fabricate and repair molds and metalworking tools.
- Read and interpret blueprints, work orders, and CAD files to ensure precision manufacturing.
- Perform mold repairs, including disassembly, inspection, welding, polishing, machining, and reassembly.
- Conduct basic machine setup and input operational data/parameters.
- Verify dimensions using measuring instruments such as calipers and gauges.
- Understand metal characteristics and machining methods to adjust processes accordingly.
- Use measuring tools (tape measures, scales) to assess material dimensions and weight in both English and Metric systems.
- Perform calculations to determine precise material cuts and modifications.
- Utilize hand tools and equipment to correct salvageable orders (e.g., using grinders for adjustments).
- Maintain a clean, organized workspace and comply with company safety protocols.
- Operate saws, forklifts, overhead cranes, and packing equipment safely.
- Builds training plans for Tool & Die Level Is.
- Follow all company safety policies and procedures and assist other processes as directed by the supervisor.
