Senior DevOps Engineer – Energy & DERMS

 Job Description:

A rare contract opportunity is available for a highly experienced Senior DevOps / Cloud Delivery Lead to support the deployment of critical technology platforms within the energy sector.

This role is focused on advanced Distributed Energy Resource Management Systems (DERMS) and requires a candidate who understands the operational and technical demands of modern energy networks, grid transformation, renewables integration and utility-scale technology delivery.

This is a fully remote role open anywhere in Australia, offered as an initial 6-month contract with extension potential.

Important Requirement

To be considered, applicants must have prior Energy / Utilities sector experience and direct exposure to DERMS or Distributed Energy Resource Management environments.

The Role

You will lead technical delivery across enterprise deployments, owning DevOps, cloud infrastructure and release outcomes while partnering closely with customers, project teams and engineering stakeholders.

You will operate across the full lifecycle - design, deployment, go-live, optimisation and support.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead deployment of DERMS platforms into customer environments
  • Own DevOps, cloud and infrastructure deliverables across projects
  • Work with energy clients to define deployment strategies and solution requirements
  • Drive go-live readiness, cutover and post-live support
  • Build and optimise CI/CD pipelines and automation frameworks
  • Support architecture, delivery planning, risk mitigation and issue resolution
  • Champion DevOps / DevSecOps best practice
  • Work across Agile teams locally and globally
  • Troubleshoot production, integration and platform issues

Required Experience

  • 10+ years in DevOps, Cloud Engineering, Infrastructure Automation or Technical Delivery roles
  • Mandatory experience within Energy / Utilities sector
  • Mandatory DERMS experience or equivalent distributed energy platform exposure
  • Strong hands-on Azure, AWS or GCP experience
  • Kubernetes, Docker and container platform expertise
  • Terraform, Ansible, Puppet or Infrastructure as Code capability
  • CI/CD tools including Jenkins, GitHub, ArgoCD or similar
  • Strong Linux / Windows systems administration skills
  • Database exposure across PostgreSQL, SQL Server, MongoDB or MariaDB
  • Security / DevSecOps capability
  • Strong stakeholder and customer engagement skills
