Shift Type: Days

Shift Schedule: Monday Thursday, 8:30 AM - 7:00 PM; Friday, 8:30 AM - 5:00 PM; Saturday, 9:00 AM - 1:00 PM (Flexible scheduling available)

Hourly Salary Range:

  • Full License: $28.90 - $38.89 per hour
  • Limited License: $26.68 - $35.91 per hour
  • Sign-On Bonus: $3,000

Role Overview:

The Crisis Therapist will provide screening, assessment, and crisis intervention services to adults referred by local law enforcement agencies. The therapist will determine the appropriate level of care, coordinate transitional support, and provide mental health and substance use treatment referrals. This role includes in-person, telehealth, and community-based services, ensuring individuals receive timely, effective crisis care.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide crisis intervention services via telehealth and in-person as referred by local law enforcement.
  • Conduct screenings and assessments to determine appropriate care levels and least restrictive treatment settings.
  • Offer transitional support, advocacy, and care coordination until patients initiate or resume treatment.
  • Utilize pre-programmed tablets for real-time crisis intervention as part of police collaboration programs.
  • Provide mental health and substance use disorder treatment for clients receiving intensive case management.
  • Support individuals under Assisted Outpatient Treatment (AOT) orders and those deemed Not Guilty by Reason of Insanity (NGRI).
  • Participate in on-call crisis screening shifts during business hours, with voluntary after-hours coverage available.
  • Collaborate with healthcare providers, law enforcement, and community organizations to ensure comprehensive support.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of crisis calls, interventions, and treatment plans.

Qualifications & Requirements:

  • Education:Masters degree in Social Work, Psychology, or Counseling (required).
  • Must obtain State of Michigan licensure (LLMSW, LLPC, TLLP, LMSW, LPC, or LLP) within 60 days of hire (if not already licensed).
  • Experience:Experience engaging adults with serious mental illness and/or substance use disorders (required).
  • Knowledge of community-based mental health resources (preferred).
  • Certifications & Licensure:Qualified Mental Health Professional (QMHP) credential required within 120 days of hire.
  • Substance Abuse Treatment Specialist (SATS) credential required within 120 days of hire.
  • Must hold or be actively registered for a CAADC credential or an MCBAP certification Development Plan within six weeks of hire.
  • Skills & Competencies:Ability to provide trauma-informed care and handle crisis situations professionally.
  • Strong organizational, verbal, and written communication skills.
  • Competency in using technology and telehealth platforms.
  • Cultural sensitivity and ability to work nonjudgmentally with diverse populations.
