Job Position: Registered Nurse (RN) - Intensive Care Unit (ICU)
Location: Andover, KS
Schedule: 3x12 hour night shifts (7:00 PM - 7:00 AM), every other weekend required
Hourly Pay Rate: $35-$38 (commensurate with experience)
Sign-On Bonus: $15,000 (details discussed by hiring manager)
Differentials:
- Night Shift (7 PM - 7 AM): +$4.00/hour
- Weekend (11:00 PM Friday - 11:30 PM Sunday): +$4.00/hour
- Holiday: 50% of base rate
Position Summary:
The Intensive Care Unit (ICU) Registered Nurse is responsible for providing comprehensive and compassionate care to critically ill patients. This includes assessment, direct care, teaching, and collaboration with interdisciplinary team members to ensure consistent and quality outcomes. The ideal candidate demonstrates excellent clinical judgment, adaptability in high-pressure situations, and a strong commitment to patient-centered care.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Associate or Bachelors Degree in Nursing from an accredited program (or Nursing Diploma completed before/during the 1980s)
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) license issued by the Kansas State Board of Nursing
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification (required)
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification (preferred upon hire; must be obtained within 6 months)
- NIH Stroke Scale Certification (required within 6 months)
- Trauma Nursing Core Course (preferred upon hire; required within 6 months)
- Minimum of 2 years ICU nursing experience
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct comprehensive patient assessments and respond to clinical changes
- Perform and document care interventions in accordance with the Kansas Nurse Practice Act
- Collaborate with physicians, care providers, and families to meet individualized patient needs
- Utilize critical thinking to evaluate effectiveness of interventions and care plans
- Educate patients and families about care plans, recovery, and illness management
- Maintain patient confidentiality and adhere to hospital safety, OSHA, and infection control standards
- Participate in continuous professional development, committees, and quality improvement activities
- Support ethical decision-making and advocate for patient rights and family involvement
