Recreational Therapist - Susanville, CA

Position: Recreational Therapist
Location: Correctional Facility in Susanville, California
Pay Rate: $61.00 to $63.00 per hour
Schedule: Full-time, 6 to 9-month contract (eligible for extension)

Requirements

• At least 12 months of continuous direct patient care experience in the past 3 years in a public or private institution
• Up-to-date clinical competencies
• Valid government-issued photo ID (Drivers License or Passport)
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association
• Valid National or California Recreational Therapist Certification

Key Responsibilities

• Notify the Director of Recreational Therapy and the treatment team of any changes in patient condition
• Provide feedback on therapy effectiveness, interventions, and patient progress
• Assess psychosocial, leisure, and recreational skills and deficiencies
• Document all interventions in alignment with each patients care plan
• Teach coping strategies and stress management techniques
• Apply therapeutic methods for psychiatric, trauma, and substance use patients
• Lead and manage group therapy sessions using knowledge of group dynamics
