Recreational Therapist - Centinela, CA

Position: Recreational Therapist
Location: Correctional Facility in Centinela, California
Pay Rate: $61.00 to $63.00 per hour
Schedule: Full-time, 6 to 9-month contract (eligible for extension)

Requirements

• At least 12 months of continuous experience within the last 3 years providing direct patient care in a public or private healthcare setting
• Current clinical competencies
• Valid government-issued photo ID (Drivers License or Passport)
• Active Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association
• National or California-issued Recreational Therapist certification

Key Responsibilities

• Communicate patient condition changes to the Director of Recreational Therapy and interdisciplinary treatment team
• Provide feedback on therapy outcomes, interventions, and patient progress
• Conduct assessments focused on psychosocial, leisure, and recreational skills
• Document all interventions in alignment with the patient's care plan
• Instruct patients in stress management, coping skills, and balanced lifestyle strategies
• Apply advanced therapeutic approaches for psychiatric, trauma-affected, and substance-dependent individuals
• Facilitate therapeutic groups with a solid understanding of group dynamics and processing techniques
