Position Overview

We are seeking a skilled Surgical Technologist to join a specialized Neurosurgery team in Peoria, Illinois.

This role supports four dedicated operating rooms providing high-acuity neurosurgical care across the lifespan. The surgical team manages complex brain and spine conditions, including trauma, stroke, tumors, and congenital deformities.

This is an excellent opportunity for a Surgical Technologist who thrives in a highly technical operating room environment and enjoys procedures requiring precision, critical thinking, and close collaboration with surgeons.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare operating rooms, surgical instruments, supplies, and equipment for neurosurgical procedures
  • Assist surgeons and the perioperative team throughout invasive and non-invasive procedures
  • Anticipate the needs of the surgeon during complex brain and spine cases
  • Maintain sterile technique and infection prevention standards
  • Ensure surgical equipment and instrumentation are functioning properly
  • Support procedures involving trauma, stroke, tumors, spinal conditions, and congenital deformities
  • Recognize significant patient conditions or reactions and communicate concerns to the appropriate care team
  • Maintain a safe and efficient operating room environment
  • Participate in weekend, holiday, and call rotations
  • Follow established patient safety and surgical quality standards

Qualifications

Surgical Technologist I

  • High School Diploma or GED required
  • Completion of a Surgical Technology program with eligibility to sit for certification OR
  • Minimum of 2 years of Surgical Technologist/Technician experience if a Surgical Technology program has not been completed
  • Current American Heart Association BLS certification required

Surgical Technologist II

  • High School Diploma or GED required
  • Completion of a Surgical Technology program and Surgical Technologist certification with at least 3 years of Surgical Technologist experience OR
  • Minimum of 5 years of Surgical Technologist experience without certification
  • Current American Heart Association BLS certification required

Preferred Qualifications

  • Surgical Technology certification
  • Neurosurgery, neuro, spine, or high-acuity surgical experience
  • Strong attention to detail and critical-thinking skills
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, highly technical operating room environment

Compensation & Incentives

Pay Range: $27.26–$38.48 per hour

Surgical Technologist II positions include a 3% range adjustment.

Weekend Differential: $2.50 per hour
On-Call Pay: $3.00 per hour
Called-In Pay: Time-and-a-half of base rate
Sign-On Bonus: $15,000
Relocation Assistance: Available
