About the Role

A leading thermoplastic fabricator is seeking an experienced Cost Accountant with a strong manufacturing background. This is a high-impact role designed to transition into a Controller position, offering the opportunity to build, improve, and lead accounting processes during an ERP system upgrade.

Key Responsibilities

Initial Focus

  • Learn and document current accounting systems (Sage), purchasing, WIP, and inventory processes

  • Support implementation and financial setup of a new Epicor ERP system

  • Develop and maintain accurate costing and burden tracking

  • Lead the monthly close and ensure financial accuracy and timeliness

  • Oversee daily financial activities and maintain ERP data integrity

  • Manage accounts payable/receivable and monitor the cash conversion cycle

  • Ensure compliance with all tax obligations (payroll, sales, state, and federal)

Future Growth

  • Collaborate closely with operations to align financial insights with production goals

  • Own financial planning, budgeting, and forecasting

  • Analyze performance data and identify efficiency opportunities

  • Prepare financial reports and present plans to stakeholders and lenders

  • Support the company's long-term plans, including a potential ESOP transition

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field

  • Minimum 10 years of accounting experience, including cost accounting in a manufacturing environment

  • Proficiency with ERP systems (Epicor experience a plus)

  • Strong knowledge of WIP, inventory, accrual, and cost accounting principles

  • Hands-on approach, willing to build processes from the ground up

  • Strong communication, analytical, and organizational skills
