Salary: USD 1,200-1,500 per month
Purpose Statement
The successful applicant will support all Quantity Surveying (QS) work before and during the tender stage, as well as after submission. This includes preparing Bills of Quantities (BOQ), estimating costs, working with subcontractors, and controlling budgets to make sure projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to the required quality.
Responsibilities
- Review project documents, drawings, and specifications to understand scope, requirements, and budgets.
- Coordinate with design teams, consultants, and clients to confirm details and solve any missing or unclear information.
- Prepare early cost estimates and cost plans at each design stage, suggesting value-engineering options where possible.
- Carry out detailed measurement take-offs and produce full, itemised BOQs using standard measurement methods.
- Break projects into trade packages and create procurement strategies for subcontractors and suppliers.
- Prepare and send Requests for Quotation (RFQs) with full scope details.
- Keep and update tender logs to track RFQ submissions, deadlines, and responses.
- Follow up with subcontractors and suppliers to ensure timely quotations.
- Review and analyse quotations for accuracy, completeness, and competitiveness.
- Organise clarification meetings or written communication with suppliers as needed.
- Prepare cost comparison tables to show inclusions, exclusions, and commercial terms.
- Finalise tender estimates, including preliminaries, contingencies, and allowances for risk.
Qualifications and Requirements
- Bachelors degree in Civil Engineering, Quantity Surveying, or a related field.
- 2-3 years of experience in QS duties across pre-tender, tender, and post-tender stages.
- Strong measurement skills and knowledge of standard measurement methods.
- Skilled in cost planning, BOQ preparation, estimating, and tender procedures.
- Experience dealing with subcontractors and analysing cost comparisons.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office; knowledge of AutoCAD, Bluebeam Revu, or similar estimating software is an advantage.
