Job Summary:
We are looking for a strategic and highly experienced Tax Lawyer (Senior Manager) to lead tax advisory services for clients. This role is responsible for overseeing complex tax legal matters, managing client relationships, and supporting regulatory, compliance, and transactional tax needs. It also involves supervising legal tax professionals and collaborating with cross-functional teams to deliver integrated client solutions.
The ideal candidate has a strong foundation in tax law, a track record in advisory or litigation work, and experience within a consulting or professional services environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide high-level legal tax advisory on corporate structuring, cross-border transactions, mergers and acquisitions, and tax risk mitigation.
- Interpret and apply national tax laws, regulations, and jurisprudence in the development of legal opinions, memos, and client deliverables.
- Represent clients in tax assessments, audit defenses, and other proceedings before regulatory bodies.
- Manage a portfolio of clients, ensuring timely delivery of advice and compliance with legal and regulatory frameworks.
- Monitor legal and regulatory developments, assess their impact on clients, and propose appropriate strategies.
- Lead and mentor a team of tax lawyers and associates, ensuring high standards of technical quality and client service.
- Collaborate with advisory, audit, and compliance teams to deliver holistic solutions that align with client objectives.
- Participate in business development initiatives, including proposal preparation, client presentations, and thought leadership.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor of Laws (LLB or JD); must be a licensed lawyer in good standing.
- Minimum 10 years of experience in tax practice, legal advisory, or tax litigationpreferably within a law firm or professional services environment.
- Extensive knowledge of Philippine tax code, BIR rules, and relevant jurisprudence.
- Strong exposure to corporate, international, and transaction-based tax matters.
- Proven leadership and people management experience.
- Excellent legal writing, research, and verbal communication skills.
- Strong business acumen and ability to build lasting client relationships.
- Willing to be based in or relocate to Cebu.
