Job Description: The Barista Supervisor oversees the daily operations of a coffee shop or café, ensuring the efficient and smooth functioning of the establishment. They are responsible for supervising and leading a team of baristas, maintaining high standards of customer service, and ensuring the quality of beverages served. The Barista Supervisor also assists in inventory management, ordering supplies, and maintaining cleanliness and hygiene standards in accordance with health regulations. Additionally, they may be involved in training new staff, scheduling shifts, and resolving any customer complaints or issues that may arise.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Supervise and coordinate the activities of baristas to ensure excellent customer service and adherence to quality standards.
  2. Train new barista staff on proper techniques for making various coffee beverages and maintaining hygiene standards.
  3. Monitor inventory levels and place orders for coffee beans, milk, syrups, and other supplies as needed.
  4. Maintain cleanliness and organization of the coffee shop, including equipment, serving areas, and dining spaces.
  5. Handle customer inquiries, complaints, and feedback in a professional and timely manner, striving to resolve any issues to the customer's satisfaction.
  6. Create weekly or monthly schedules for barista staff, ensuring adequate coverage during peak hours and special events.
  7. Assist in developing promotional activities or special menu items to attract customers and increase sales.
  8. Adhere to all health and safety regulations, including food handling procedures and sanitation practices.
  9. Collaborate with the management team to develop strategies for improving overall efficiency and profitability of the coffee shop.
  10. Lead by example, demonstrating a strong work ethic, positive attitude, and dedication to providing exceptional service.

Qualifications:

  1. High school diploma or equivalent; additional education or training in hospitality or food service is a plus.
  2. Previous experience as a barista or in a similar role, with demonstrated supervisory or leadership skills.
  3. Strong knowledge of coffee brewing techniques, espresso machines, and other beverage preparation equipment.
  4. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact professionally with customers and team members.
  5. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
  6. Flexibility to work weekends, evenings, and holidays as needed.
  7. Basic math skills for handling cash transactions and calculating inventory levels.
  8. Attention to detail and commitment to maintaining high standards of quality and cleanliness.
