A florist is responsible for creating and arranging floral designs, managing inventory, providing exceptional customer service, and driving sales in a retail flower shop or floral department. A strong background in floristry, combined with excellent communication skills in English, is essential for success in this role.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Floral Arrangements: Create and arrange floral bouquets, centerpieces, and other designs using a variety of flowers, foliage, and accessories. Ensure all arrangements are visually appealing and meet customer preferences.
  • Customer Service: Provide outstanding customer service by assisting customers with their floral selections, offering expert advice on flower choices, care, and maintenance. Address customer inquiries, concerns, and special requests.
  • Sales: Actively promote and sell floral products and services, including arrangements for special occasions, events, and holidays. Utilize upselling techniques to increase revenue.
  • Inventory Management: Monitor and manage flower and accessory inventory, ensuring that stock levels are maintained, and fresh flowers are available. Order new supplies as needed to meet demand.
  • Quality Control: Ensure the quality and freshness of flowers and plants in the shop. Properly care for and maintain the flowers, ensuring they remain in optimal condition for sale.
  • Design Expertise: Stay current with floral design trends, techniques, and seasonal offerings. Create unique and innovative designs to attract customers and meet market demands.
  • Cleaning and Maintenance: Keep the floral shop clean, organized, and aesthetically pleasing. Maintain the cleanliness and functionality of all equipment and tools.
  • Pricing and Labeling: Accurately price and label floral arrangements, plants, and accessories. Ensure that pricing is consistent and adheres to established guidelines.
  • Administration: Maintain records of sales, customer orders, and inventory. Handle cash and electronic payments accurately. Handle order requests for weddings, funerals, and special events.

Qualifications:

  • Strong background in floristry or relevant work experience.
  • Proficiency in English, both spoken and written.
  • Excellent customer service skills, with the ability to engage and assist customers effectively.
  • Sales-oriented mindset and the ability to upsell and promote products and services.
