About the job Editorial Project Coordinator

Content Management Editors work with series editors, volume editors, and chapter authors who are scientific and healthcare researchers as well as technical professionals (like engineers). They guide these authors as they write and deliver chapters and according to specifications. The main task of the CME is to manage all projects assigned from pre-production manuscript stage through final production stages to ensure on-time publication of titles in order to fulfill the annual commitment of titles to Science Direct.

Tasks include:

- Initiating EMSS site setup requests and checking newly created sites for accuracy

- Updating personal trackers with every new title received and all changes as they happen

- Welcoming all new authors and editors and every lead chapter author with introductory emails, guidelines, and directions

- Answering author and editor queries

- Sending reminders about deadlines

- Following up on outstanding manuscripts with authors and editors

- Engaging in email and sometimes phone conversations with authors and editors

- Upon receipt of manuscript, ensuring components are present and following up on outstanding material.

- Ensure that all other support stakeholders are engaged and progressing such as project setup, contracts, permissions, and production.

- Monitoring production progress and mitigating issues that arise post-transmittal

- Ensuring authors are answering queries and addressing problems

- Final checks of front matter according to a checklist

- Final check on cover

This person is responsible for a 50+ projects and they must be able to manage a large volume of work on a predetermined schedule. They must have strong organizational, interpersonal, and written and verbal communication skills; have a flexible and creative approach to problem solving; be attentive to detail; have the ability to foresee and avert problems; and have excellent collaborative skills.

Qualifications:

*College Graduate

*Non negotiable - project management experience

*Has strong analytical, organizing and interpersonal skills
