Job Summary:
We are seeking a detail-oriented and technically proficient Tax Lawyer Supervisor to oversee the delivery of legal tax advisory services, manage junior staff, and support complex client engagements. This role involves research, interpretation, and application of tax laws, rulings, and regulations, with an emphasis on corporate and cross-border tax matters.
The ideal candidate brings strong legal analysis skills, practical experience in tax compliance or advisory, and the ability to manage client expectations and team deliverables within a professional services framework.
Key Responsibilities:
- Supervise the preparation of legal tax opinions, position papers, and client advisory reports on various tax issues.
- Interpret and apply relevant tax laws, rulings, regulations, and jurisprudence to address complex client queries.
- Support the review of corporate structures, transactions, and tax implications related to reorganizations, acquisitions, and cross-border operations.
- Coordinate with internal teams and clients to ensure timely and accurate delivery of legal tax services.
- Monitor developments in tax legislation, jurisprudence, and policy, and assess potential impact on clients.
- Assist in handling client engagements related to tax assessments, audit defense, and regulatory compliance.
- Contribute to knowledge sharing and development of junior team members through supervision, feedback, and mentoring.
- Draft or review contracts and legal documents from a tax risk and compliance perspective.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor of Laws (LLB or JD); must be a licensed lawyer in good standing.
- At least 4-6 years of experience in tax law, legal advisory, or tax litigation, preferably within a law firm, tax practice, or consulting environment.
- Strong knowledge of national tax codes, regulations, and legal precedents.
- Familiarity with corporate transactions, regulatory filings, and cross-border tax matters.
- Excellent legal writing, research, and analytical skills.
- Strong communication and client-handling abilities.
- Ability to manage multiple engagements and lead small teams effectively.
