Job Summary:

We are seeking a skilled Japanese-speaking Data Engineer to support the design, development, and maintenance of data pipelines and infrastructure for enterprise clients. This role involves working closely with Japanese-speaking stakeholders and global technical teams to ensure accurate, secure, and scalable data delivery for analytics, reporting, and platform integrations.

The ideal candidate has strong technical expertise in data engineering tools and languages, with the ability to translate data requirements and documentation from Japanese into actionable engineering tasks.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design, build, and maintain efficient data pipelines and ETL/ELT processes to support business and analytical use cases.
  • Work with structured and unstructured data from various internal and external data sources.
  • Collaborate with bilingual stakeholders to interpret and document data requirements, mappings, and transformation logic.
  • Ensure data quality, consistency, and reliability through validation and testing frameworks.
  • Optimize data workflows for performance, scalability, and cost efficiency in cloud or hybrid environments.
  • Support data integration, storage, and access across databases, data lakes, or data warehouses.
  • Implement and follow security, compliance, and governance standards.
  • Maintain technical documentation and support knowledge sharing within a distributed team.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Data Engineering, or related field.
  • 3+ years of experience in data engineering or backend data processing roles.
  • Business-level proficiency in Japanese (JLPT N4 or higher) and working proficiency in English.
  • Proficient in SQL and at least one programming language (e.g., Python, Scala, Java) used in data workflows.
  • Experience with tools such as Apache Spark, Airflow, dbt, or Informatica is a plus.
  • Familiarity with cloud data platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP) and data warehousing (Snowflake, BigQuery, Redshift, etc.).
  • Understanding of data modeling, API integrations, and distributed systems.
  • Strong analytical, documentation, and communication skills in a bilingual working environment.
