About the job Accounting Officer
Job Summary
We are seeking a detail-oriented and organized Accounting Officer to support local and international accounting operations. The role will handle various accounting activities, including intercompany reconciliations, accounts payable, foreign exchange revaluations, cost allocations, journal entries, and audit support.
The successful candidate will work closely with the accounting and finance teams across different locations and should be comfortable working independently while managing multiple deadlines.
Key Responsibilities
- Handle monthly intercompany account reconciliations and related accounting entries.
- Support quarterly intercompany settlements and resolve discrepancies with other offices.
- Process monthly foreign exchange revaluations and prepare forex analysis.
- Prepare salary, project, grant, and shared-service cost allocations.
- Process vendor invoices and employee expense claims.
- Create and maintain vendor records in the accounting system.
- Prepare and post manual journal entries.
- Assist with month-end and year-end accounting activities.
- Maintain accurate and organized accounting records and supporting documents.
- Assist with internal and external audit requirements.
- Ensure compliance with applicable accounting, procurement, and donor requirements.
- Support finance process improvements and other accounting-related tasks as assigned.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- 3–5 years of relevant accounting experience; strong junior candidates may also be considered.
- CPA qualification is an advantage.
- Experience in Intercompany Accounting and Accounts Payable is highly preferred.
- Strong knowledge of accounting principles and financial processes.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including Pivot Tables, VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, and dashboards.
- Experience with an ERP/accounting system is preferred.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Business Central is an advantage.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Excellent organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple deadlines.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Excellent written and spoken English.
- French language skills are an advantage.
- Willing to travel internationally when required.
- Must have a valid passport.
- Must be available to start ASAP.
