Location: Northern Cape, South Africa
Our client, a leading mining operation in the Northern Cape, is seeking an experienced Equipment & Asset Manager (Heavy Mobile Mining Equipment) to lead the mechanical maintenance function across a large heavy mobile mining fleet.
This senior leadership role is responsible for maximising equipment availability, fleet reliability, asset performance and machine utilisation to support safe, efficient and productive mining operations. The successful candidate will lead maintenance teams while driving continuous improvement, equipment reliability and operational performance.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the mechanical maintenance function across a large heavy mobile mining equipment fleet.
- Maximise equipment availability, fleet reliability and machine utilisation to support production targets.
- Develop and implement preventative and predictive maintenance strategies to improve equipment performance.
- Manage the full lifecycle of heavy mining equipment, including maintenance planning, replacement planning and asset optimisation.
- Lead mechanics, artisans, supervisors, planners and maintenance teams to achieve operational objectives.
- Oversee maintenance planning, scheduling and workshop activities to minimise equipment downtime.
- Monitor equipment performance and implement continuous improvement initiatives to improve reliability and productivity.
- Work closely with production teams to optimise machine utilisation and support operational performance.
- Build and maintain effective relationships with OEMs, suppliers and maintenance service providers.
- Ensure compliance with company standards, safety requirements and maintenance procedures.
Minimum Requirements
- National Diploma in Mechanical Engineering or a related technical qualification.
- Minimum 10 years' experience maintaining heavy mobile mining equipment within the mining industry.
- Minimum 5 years' experience leading mechanical maintenance teams in a mining environment.
- Proven experience managing heavy mining equipment, including haul trucks, excavators, dozers, graders, loaders and associated mining equipment.
- Strong experience in asset management, equipment reliability, fleet utilisation, equipment availability, maintenance planning and machine optimisation.
- Proven leadership experience managing mechanics, artisans, supervisors and maintenance teams.
- Strong understanding of preventative and predictive maintenance principles.
- Open-cast mining experience will be highly advantageous.
- Valid driver's licence.
- Willingness to relocate to the Northern Cape.
