Our client, a reputable engineering organisation, is seeking a highly experienced and skilled Assistant Resident Engineer/Assistant Construction Manager to join their team in Reitz, Free State. This is a contract position at a mid to senior level, requiring a minimum of 8+ years of experience in the field. Experience in Water & Sanitation, Reservoir or water retaining structures will be advantageous.

Qualifications:

  • National Diploma in engineering, in a relevant discipline.

Registrations:

  • Registration with ECSA (Engineering Council of South Africa) OR
  • SACPCMP (South African Council for the Project and Construction Management Professions).
  • Labour Intensive Construction NQF Level 5 or 7.

Salary:

The salary for this position is R50,000 - R80,000 per month and is negotiable, depending on qualifications and experience.

Area:

This position is project-based and will be located in the Free State region.

Contract Period:

The initial contract period is 12 months, with the possibility of extension.

Duties:

As an Assistant Resident Engineer/Assistant Construction Manager, your duties and responsibilities will include but not limited to:

  • Assisting in the management and supervision of construction projects, ensuring adherence to plans, specifications, and quality standards.
  • Assisting with project planning, scheduling, and resource allocation.
  • Conducting regular inspections and site visits to monitor construction progress and quality control.
  • Coordinating with contractors, subcontractors, and suppliers to ensure timely project execution.
  • Reviewing and interpreting engineering drawings, technical specifications, and contract documents.
  • Assisting with the preparation of progress reports, change orders, and project documentation.
  • Assisting in the resolution of technical issues and providing technical support to the project team.
  • Conducting safety inspections and ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations.
  • Assisting in the evaluation and approval of construction materials and equipment.
  • Participating in project meetings and providing input on construction-related matters.
  • Collaborating with project stakeholders to address any concerns or issues.
  • Supporting the Resident Engineer/Construction Manager in project administration tasks as required.
