Financial Manager – Germiston

Our client is seeking an experienced, hands-on Financial Manager to oversee the full finance function and support the Managing Director with accurate financial reporting, planning, controls and commercial decision-making.
This is a hands-on role requiring someone who is comfortable managing both the operational and management aspects of the finance function.
Candidate Profile
The successful candidate must be a hands-on Financial Manager who is comfortable working across both strategic and operational finance.
The role requires someone who can manage the finance function, supervise staff and support senior management while remaining actively involved in reporting, reconciliations, cash flow, controls, audits and day-to-day financial operations.
Minimum Requirements
- BCom Accounting, BCom Financial Accounting, BCom Finance or equivalent relevant Bachelor's degree.
- Minimum 5 years' experience in financial management or accounting.
- Experience within the transport, freight or logistics industry highly advantageous.
- Proven experience managing or overseeing a full finance function.
- Strong working knowledge of financial and accounting software systems.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
- Experience in budgeting, forecasting, cash-flow management and financial reporting.
- Experience managing debtors, creditors, reconciliations, VAT and audit processes.
- Proven experience supervising or managing finance staff.
- Strong knowledge of financial controls, statutory compliance and risk management.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and review financial statements, management reports, forecasts and financial reports.
- Manage annual budgeting, forecasting and financial planning processes.
- Monitor financial performance, expenditure, margins and cash flow.
- Provide financial analysis and recommendations to the Managing Director.
- Identify opportunities to reduce costs and improve profitability.
- Manage cash-flow planning, banking, payment releases and transfers between accounts.
- Oversee debtors, creditors and related finance functions.
- Review and approve creditor invoices and reconciliations.
- Oversee debtor credit notes and sales-order cancellations where required.
- Manage payroll journals and related reconciliations.
- Review balance-sheet reconciliations and ensure accuracy of financial records.
- Maintain the fixed asset register and depreciation schedules.
- Manage loan accounts, interest calculations and amortisation schedules.
- Oversee VAT reconciliations, submissions and audits.
- Coordinate year-end and annual audit processes.
- Liaise with external auditors and provide required financial information.
- Oversee statutory and regulatory financial reporting, including Stats SA submissions where applicable.
- Maintain effective internal financial controls and ensure compliance with company policies.
- Manage and supervise finance staff and ensure accurate and timely completion of financial functions.
- Assist with insurance-related financial administration and compliance.
- Support the implementation and administration of financial systems and related processes.
- Assist with financial-system planning, user access and system controls.
- Support Employment Equity management and implementation responsibilities where required.
- Provide oversight of BEE-related compliance requirements where applicable.
- Perform other finance-related duties as required.
