Position: Senior QA Engineer (Backend Java & Test Automation)
Location: Porto or Lisbon, Portugal
Work model: Hybrid - 2 days per week in the office.

Join the IT Payments Team (Paris and Porto/Lisbon), working on high-performance Java backend systems and batch processing.

Responsibilities

• Design, build and maintain test automation frameworks for Java backends, microservices and APIs;
• Perform manual testing when needed, defining test strategies and cases for complex backend logic and batch processing;
• Turn payments business rules into automated, executable test scenarios, working with POs, Tech Leads and Developers;
• Validate data integrity and backend transactional behavior with SQL;
• Promote a Quality First and Shift-Left culture in the Agile team;
• Troubleshoot and document defects, with log and root-cause analysis;
• Integrate test suites into CI/CD pipelines as quality gates.

Requirements

• 6+ years in QA, focused on backend testing and test automation;
• Java 17/21 and Spring Boot (able to read code and debug logs);
• Test automation with REST Assured, JUnit, TestNG, Cucumber;
• SQL (Oracle or PostgreSQL);
• Xray or Zephyr;
• Jenkins, GitLab CI or similar;
• Agile (Scrum/Kanban, Jira);
• Kafka, RabbitMQ or Spring Batch testing (highly valued);
• Degree in Technology, Computer Engineering or similar (equivalent experience considered);
• Analytical, detail-oriented, proactive team player with good communication skills in a multicultural environment;
• Fluency in English (B2/C1)
• French is a plus.
