Job Openings Devops Engineer

About the job Devops Engineer

Senior DevOps Engineer — Media & Broadcast Infrastructure

Location: Remote (LATAM preferred, flexible for strong candidates)

Team: Cloud Infrastructure & Media Operations

Engagement Model: Client-facing — direct interaction with operations and technical leadership

Summary

Youll own the AWS infrastructure powering live virtual production and cloud-based video editing environments for a broadcast media operation. This means managing EC2-based vMix production instances serving daily live events via MediaConnect and RTMP, migrating existing CloudFormation/SAM deployments to Terraform, and architecting a scalable Adobe Premiere cloud editing environment targeting hundreds of concurrent users. Youll work directly with the operations team on live production issues and with technical leadership on architecture decisions. If youve never dealt with live broadcast infrastructure where downtime means a missed live event — this will test you.

Requirements (Must-Haves)

  • Excellent English communication skills — youll interact directly with operations team for live issue resolution and with technical team for architecture discussions. No buffer. No translator. You are the engineer in the room.

  • 5+ years of hands-on AWS infrastructure experience including EC2, VPC, IAM, S3, CloudWatch, and EventBridge. Not Ive used the console — youve built and operated production workloads.

  • Production experience with media streaming protocols and AWS media services: MediaConnect, MediaPackage, SRT (caller/listener configurations), and RTMP. You understand live video routing, packaging, flow management, and what happens when a feed drops mid-broadcast.

  • Solid Terraform experience (2+ years) — youll be migrating existing CloudFormation/SAM templates to Terraform and establishing IaC best practices from scratch. You need to know how to structure modules, manage state, and handle multi-environment deployments.

  • Experience with programmatic advertising infrastructure — ad units, header bidding, DoubleVerify, Google Ad Manager (GAM), and the ad decisioning pipeline. Understanding how ads are served and measured in broadcast/streaming contexts is directly relevant to this clients business.

  • Scripting/automation proficiency in Python, Node.js, Bash, or similar. Youll extend existing Slack bot integrations, write EventBridge-triggered automation, and build operational tooling. Not a full-stack developer role, but you need to code confidently.

  • Experience with auto-scaling architectures and VDI/remote desktop environments. The Adobe Premiere cloud editing project targets hundreds of concurrent users on Windows EC2 instances — you need to design the scaling strategy.

  • SSO/identity integration experience (SAML, OIDC, Active Directory) — the cloud editing environment requires SSO integration, and the current production setup has users accessing via shared administrator accounts. Youll design and implement proper identity management across both environments. This is not optional.

  • Autonomous and self-directed. This is a consulting engagement where youre the primary technical resource. Youll need to make infrastructure decisions, communicate them clearly, and own the outcomes without someone holding your hand.

Requirements (Nice-to-Haves)

  • Windows Server 2022 administration experience — both the vMix production instances and Adobe Premiere editing environments run on Windows. You dont need to be a Windows sysadmin, but you should be comfortable enough to troubleshoot, configure, and manage Windows EC2 instances without freezing up.

  • Experience with FSx for Windows File Server — the Premiere editing environment uses FSx as its storage layer. Understanding FSx performance characteristics, pricing implications, and integration patterns is a real advantage.

  • Docker Swarm experience — the Kelda storage gateway component runs on Docker Swarm. Ideally youve worked with Swarm in production and can help evaluate whether to keep it or migrate to a more standard orchestrator.

  • Kubernetes experience (EKS preferred) — if Docker Swarm gets replaced, EKS is the likely target. Production Kubernetes experience accelerates that migration path significantly.

  • Logging and observability practices — experience implementing centralized logging, metrics, alerting, and dashboarding (CloudWatch, Datadog, Grafana, ELK, or similar). The current setup has visibility gaps that need to be closed.

  • Security and infrastructure hardening — experience with AWS security best practices, network segmentation, least-privilege IAM policies, encryption at rest/in transit, and compliance frameworks. The current environment has security debt (shared admin accounts, IP-only restrictions) that needs systematic remediation.

  • Familiarity with media asset management (MAM) systems, specifically Mimir or similar broadcast tooling.

  • Experience with AWS DCV (NICE DCV) or similar remote desktop protocols for high-performance remote workstation access.

  • Spanish language skills — makes internal Nimble team coordination easier, but not a requirement.

Bonus Points

  • AWS certifications (Solutions Architect Professional, DevOps Engineer Professional)

  • Previous experience in broadcast, live events, or media production infrastructure

  • Experience migrating from CloudFormation/SAM to Terraform at scale

  • Contributions to open-source IaC modules or media streaming tools
