Job Brief
We are seeking a Lead WordPress Developer to architect, build, and maintain high-performance WordPress solutions.
This role demands deep expertise in WordPress and WooCommerce, with the ability to operate independently and guide technical decisions with minimal oversight.
You'll collaborate directly with the business owner, taking ownership of projects from concept to deployment, ensuring top-quality, scalable solutions that align with business goals.
Key Responsibilities
WordPress Development

Design, develop, and maintain custom WordPress themes and plugins.

Implement and refine custom functionality aligned with business requirements.

Optimize front-end performance with clean, responsive, and accessible HTML/CSS.

(Optional) Build and enhance Gutenberg blocks for modern editing experiences.
WooCommerce & eCommerce Integrations

Customize and extend WooCommerce functionality for complex product structures.

Integrate with third-party systems and APIs (e.g., shipping, payment, dropshipping).

Manage advanced eCommerce setups, including WooCommerce Subscriptions and Teams for WooCommerce Memberships.

(Preferred, not required) Experience integrating LearnDash or other LMS tools.
Infrastructure & Deployment
Manage WordPress hosting environments (Kinsta, WP Engine, Cloudways, etc.) for performance and security.

Oversee deployment pipelines, version control, and staging environments.

Monitor and optimize site performance using tools like NewRelic or Query Monitor.
Leadership & Collaboration

Take technical ownership of projects with minimal supervision.

Collaborate directly with business stakeholders to translate requirements into actionable solutions.

Provide technical guidance and mentorship within the development team when needed.

Proactively identify architectural improvements and scalability opportunities.
Requirements
Expert-level WordPress proficiency, including custom theme and plugin development.

Proven experience with WooCommerce, including complex setups and customizations.

Strong PHP and JavaScript skills, with clean, modular coding practices.

Proficiency in HTML5, CSS3, and responsive design principles.

Demonstrated ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and deliver high-quality solutions without constant direction.

Excellent written and spoken English required for client communication and documentation.

Experience managing hosting, performance, and deployment pipelines for WordPress.
Desired Qualifications (non required)
Familiarity with Gutenberg block development (React/JSX).
