Technical Writer (TW2)

Location: Annapolis Junction, MD | On-Site | Classified Environment
Clearance Requirement: ACTIVE TS/SCI with Full Scope Polygraph (Required)

About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Technical Writer (TW2) to develop, update, and maintain documentation supporting complex software, systems engineering, and operational environments. This role ensures that highly technical content is clearly communicated to diverse audiences, including engineers, developers, end users, and government stakeholders.

The Technical Writer will collaborate closely with technical and program teams to produce accurate, user-focused documentation that supports mission execution in a classified environment.

Responsibilities

• Develop, edit, and maintain technical documentation including manuals, user guides, and operational publications
  
• Create software, systems engineering, and operations documentation such as installation and configuration guides
  
• Gather, analyze, and organize technical information from specifications, diagrams, and subject matter experts
  
• Produce code documentation, system implementation materials, and end-user training resources
  
• Maintain centralized documentation repositories with consistent formatting and version control
  
• Use documentation tools such as Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Visio to produce professional deliverables
  
• Coordinate document layout, review cycles, and approvals with engineering and program teams
  
• Translate complex technical concepts into clear, concise documentation for technical and non-technical audiences
  
• Prepare briefings, reports, and written responses for multiple stakeholder levels
  
• Apply documentation standards such as NSA DS-89 to technical manuals and acquisition deliverables

Requirements

• Possess 6+ years of experience as a Technical Writer supporting programs of similar scope and complexity
  
• Hold a Bachelors degree in a technical discipline from an accredited institution
  
• Substitute four (4) additional years of relevant experience in lieu of a degree
  
• Demonstrate strong knowledge of technical writing principles, grammar, and structured documentation
  
• Demonstrate experience interpreting engineering artifacts, operational procedures, and software documentation
  
• Demonstrate the ability to collaborate with engineers, developers, and analysts in classified environments

Preferred Qualifications

• Demonstrate experience supporting DoD or Intelligence Community documentation processes
  
• Demonstrate familiarity with systems engineering, software development, or analytic documentation
  
• Demonstrate proficiency applying style guides, templates, and technical standards to ensure consistency and compliance

Salary Range

$115,000 – $122,000 (USD)
