Regional CDL-A Flatbed Driver – Steel & Pipes - Home Weekends

CDL-A flatbed drivers living near Longview, TX haul flat steel, pipe, and coils on regional routes across five surrounding states (TX, LA, AR, OK, NM), running 2,300–2,800 miles weekly with steady freight and dependable miles.

Drivers running this regional flatbed position have access to a competitive pay structure that rewards consistent miles and safe driving.

Driver Pay

27% of linehaul revenue (often comparable to about $0.70 CPM depending on the load)

• $40 tarp pay for each tarped load
• $16 per hour detention pay after the first 2 hours
• $50 layover pay after 24 hours
• $300 weekly non-taxed per diem available
• Safety bonuses and clean DOT inspection bonuses

Drivers joining the fleet are also eligible for a structured sign-on bonus program.

Sign-On Bonus

• $5,000 sign-on bonus available
• $1,500 paid with your first paycheck
• $1,500 paid after 6 months
• $2,000 paid after 12 months

Home Time

Drivers typically return home Friday evening or Saturday morning depending on dispatch and routing. This regional position provides a 34–48 hour reset at home most weekends.

Drivers who prefer to stay out longer and continue running may have opportunities to pick up additional miles and increase weekly earnings.

Freight & Equipment

This position involves hauling flat steel, pipe, and coil freight on flatbed trailers throughout regional routes.

Around 40% of loads require tarping, with the rest consisting of standard securement freight.

Drivers run Kenworth T680 trucks (2022 and newer) that are assigned to each driver, and drivers may take the truck home when off duty.

Trailers are equipped with coil racks, chains, and straps for safe flatbed hauling.

Driver Qualifications

Applicants should meet the following requirements to be considered for this flatbed position.

• At least 22 years of age
• 12 months of recent verifiable flatbed experience within the past 5 years
• Experience securing steel, pipe, or coil loads required (coil experience is a strong advantage)
• Ability to properly use straps, chains, binders, and tarps (approximately 40–50% of freight is tarped)
• No DUI or DWI in the last 5 years and no Clearinghouse violations
• Must successfully complete a pre-employment drug test
• Clean driving record preferred
