Transportation Department Manager

Our client is seeking a growth-oriented Highway (Civil) Department Manager to lead transportation projects and drive departmental growth at our Princeton, NJ office. With a strong focus on project execution, leadership, and client collaboration, this is a high-impact role for a licensed civil engineer with deep experience in highway design.

Key Responsibilities:

• Manage and execute a wide range of transportation and highway design projects
• Provide engineering oversight and mentoring for junior and mid-level design staff
• Lead client interactions, including project scoping, status meetings, and regulatory discussions
• Ensure design compliance with NJDOT and NJTA standards and procedures
• Contribute to proposals and business development activities
• Collaborate with office and regional leadership on strategic teaming and innovative solutions
• Maintain high standards for quality control, project delivery, and financial performance

Minimum Qualifications:

• 20+ years of Highway Design experience
• Bachelors in Civil Engineering (Masters may substitute for 2 years experience)
• P.E. license in New Jersey required; NY license a plus
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, including proposal writing and presentations
• Proven project leadership and mentoring capabilities

Preferred Traits:

• Familiarity with NJDOT and NJTA protocols
• Client-focused mindset with strong problem-solving skills
