About The Role
We are seeking multiple Cost Controllers to support capital project execution for one of our clients in St. Johns, Newfoundland and Labrador. These roles will support a portfolio of regulated engineering and infrastructure projects across the province.
The successful candidates will bring strong financial acumen, experience in cost control within capital or construction environments, and the ability to manage reporting, forecasting, and financial tracking in a structured project setting.
This is a contract position with an anticipated start date of March 31, 2026, and an end date of March 31, 2027. The estimated effort is 37.5 hours per week, working Monday to Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

Key Responsibilities

Complete capital project cost reporting, including variance analysis and explanations

Review, attest, and code vendor invoices and support progress billing processes

Record, track, forecast, and report on work under capital and in-service programs

Prepare monthly capital accruals

Create and manage work orders to facilitate accurate cost tracking

Complete project forecasts, capital budget change orders, contract change orders, and cost flow documentation

Prepare requisitions, purchasing exception reports, and approval documentation

Analyze and prepare quarterly commitment reports

Support project close-out documentation, including asset assignment and financial close-out forms

Provide additional ad hoc financial reporting and analysis as required
Education and Experience Required

Bachelors degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field

Proven cost control experience, preferably within a capital project or engineering environment

Strong analytical skills and knowledge of accounting processes and financial systems

Experience within the electric utility or infrastructure sector is considered an asset

Strong organizational and communication skills
Additional Details

A valid Canadian drivers license with an acceptable drivers abstract is required

A criminal record check will be required

Work will be based in St. Johns, NL

Periodic travel within Newfoundland and Labrador may be required
