About The Role

We are seeking an experienced Municipal Enforcement Officer for a temporary 6-month term (with possible extension) to support municipal by-law enforcement and community safety operations for one of our clients in Wabush, NL.

In this role, you will be responsible for ensuring compliance with municipal by-laws and applicable legislation while supporting inspections, safety coordination, and enforcement activities. The position also includes participation in an on-call rotation and response to after-hours issues as required.

The successful candidate will be adaptable, community-focused, and capable of managing dynamic enforcement duties in a professional and tactful manner.

Key Responsibilities

  • Enforce municipal by-laws and applicable provincial and federal legislation
  • Conduct business and occupancy inspections
  • Chair the Joint Occupational Health and Safety Committee and complete required reporting
  • Act as Safety Coordinator as required, ensuring compliance with OH&S standards
  • Assist the Planning Department with compliance letters as needed
  • Provide supervisory coverage for other departments when assigned
  • Participate in an on-call rotation and respond to after-hours issues as required
  • Handle animal control situations as part of enforcement duties
  • Interact with the public in a professional, respectful, and tactful manner
  • Perform other municipal enforcement duties as assigned

Education and Experience Required

  • Certification and/or experience in by-law enforcement, regulatory compliance, or a related field
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to manage dynamic and varied daily responsibilities
  • Physically capable of performing enforcement-related duties
  • Comfortable working with animals in enforcement situations

  • Compensation will be based on qualifications and experience
  • Participation in an on-call rotation and after-hours response is required
