About the job Chief of Staff
The Opportunity
My client is a consumer social startup building the antidote to the loneliness epidemic. Their thesis is simple: humans are not meant to spend their days in virtual worlds, and the future of social isn't more screens, it's more real-world connection. The product is live in 17 cities and growing fast. They just closed a $15M+ Series A and are 25 people strong, headquartered in SoHo with three co-founders still running their own slices of the business. This Chief of Staff hire will operate as a direct extension of all three founders, taking founder-level work off their plates so they can focus on what only they can do.
What You Will Do
- Owning the internal recruiting funnel for the next six to eight critical hires, from selecting and standing up an ATS to writing JDs, sourcing, designing interview loops, and closing offers
- Leading deep data analysis using SQL to translate marketplace and product signals into decisions the founders can act on
- Running high-priority strategic projects end to end, including board decks, financial forecasting, OKR planning, and company retreats
- Building the internal operating cadence: meeting structure, goal tracking, and the systems that keep a 25-person team aligned as it scales
- Partnering with all three co-founders on whatever the highest-leverage problem is in any given week, whether that's a fundraising deliverable, a key hiring close, or a revenue model
- Standing up lightweight FP&A: budget tracking, headcount modeling, and runway analysis the founders can trust
- Identifying where AI-powered automation can compress manual work and shipping it yourself when the scope allows
What You Bring
- 3+ years of strategy, operations, or chief of staff experience with a clear track record of operating at a high bar
- Hands-on SQL fluency, comfortable independently digging into the data warehouse to answer a question without waiting on a data analyst
- Direct experience owning a recruiting funnel, or strong adjacent hiring experience with the appetite to own it for the company
- Operating experience at an early-stage startup (Series A or B), with comfort moving fast in ambiguity
- Located in NYC and ready to work on-site five days a week in SoHo

Prior Chief of Staff title at a venture-backed startup
Strategy and operations experience at a marketplace company (DoorDash S&O is the reference point here)
FP&A capability or finance background
Track record of shipping internal tooling or automation, including with modern AI-powered tools
