Currently, we are partnering with a manufacturing client in search of a Lead Protection and Controls Technician. The Utility Protection & Control (P&C) Lead Technician will be responsible for overall technical oversight and documentation requirements including but not limited to work plans, isolation plans, and functional test plans.
This role will be actively involved (hands-on) during complete testing & final checkout. The Utility P&C Technician Lead will serve as a safety net to ensure that any errors introduced by incorrectly engineered design packages or installation are identified and corrected prior to compromising the safety of employees and equipment or the reliability of the transmission and distribution system.
Position Overview:
We are currently seeking a Lead Protection and Controls Technician to join our client's team on a full-time, permanent basis. In this role, you will be responsible for overseeing the installation, maintenance, and repair of protection and control systems for power generation, transmission, and distribution facilities.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead a team of technicians in the installation, maintenance, and repair of protection and control systems
- Perform testing and troubleshooting of protection and control equipment
- Develop and implement maintenance schedules and procedures
- Ensure compliance with safety regulations and company policies
- Train and mentor junior technicians
- Collaborate with engineers and project managers to identify and resolve issues
- Keep accurate records of work performed and equipment status
- Stay current on industry standards, technology, and best practices
Qualifications:
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in protection and control systems
- Previous experience in a leadership or supervisory role
- Strong knowledge of power generation, transmission, and distribution systems
- Proficient in testing and troubleshooting protection and control equipment
- Familiarity with industry standards and regulations
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work independently and in a team environment
- Strong organizational and time management skills
- Willingness to travel to various job sites as needed
- Valid driver's license and clean driving record
