Northwest Talent Solutions LLC is conducting a confidential search on behalf of a growing specialty civil construction contractor.
We are seeking a Senior Project Engineer who understands both sides of construction — estimating and field execution. This is not a desk-only estimating role and not a pure field superintendent position. The engineer will help bid projects and then help run them.
Projects typically range from $250K–$4M and move quickly, often lasting only a few months, creating constant variety and hands-on involvement.
Types of Projects
Deep foundations / pile & shoring
Rail and transportation infrastructure improvements
Small bridges and culverts
Industrial and structural support work
Remote and specialty construction sites
If you like seeing a project from the bid stage all the way to completion, this role offers real ownership and visibility.
What You'll Do
Perform quantity takeoffs and prepare project estimates
Review plans, specs, and attend pre-bid meetings
Develop bid packages and cost analyses
Assist with project startup and field coordination
Manage RFIs, submittals, change orders, and documentation
Coordinate subcontractors and suppliers
Track costs and project performance
Support claims, contractor ratings, and project closeout
Visit jobsites to verify scope and conditions
You'll be directly involved in both winning the work and delivering it.
Required Background
Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or Construction Management
3–7+ years' experience in heavy civil construction
Experience with deep foundations, pile & shoring, heavy highway, rail, or industrial projects
Estimating or cost engineering experience
Ability and willingness to travel to project sites
Preferred Experience
Geotechnical or foundation construction exposure
Heavy Job / Viewpoint or similar construction software
Quantity takeoffs and cost estimating
Field coordination and subcontractor management
Why Engineers Move to This Role
Hands-on involvement instead of siloed responsibilities
Quick project cycles (no multi-year megaproject stagnation)
Direct exposure to leadership and decision-making
Opportunity to grow into Project Manager
Confidentiality
Company details will be shared during the interview process. All inquiries handled confidentially.
If you have deep foundations or heavy civil experience and want to be more involved in both winning and building projects, we'd like to speak with you.
