Kitchen Artist cum Commis

Nova Maldives is seeking a passionate Kitchen Artist to join our soulful island resort!

About this Role

In this role, you are responsible for creating unique artistic pieces, decorative displays and creative installations using a variety of materials and techniques and work closely with the culinary team to enhance buffet presentations, festive celebrations, special events and guest experiences

What You'll Do

• Design and create a wide variety of art pieces, sculptures, decorative displays and installations using different materials and techniques.
• Create bread dough art and salt dough art, including decorative and sculptural pieces.
• Develop creative concepts for festive events, themed celebrations, buffet displays and special occasions.
• Work closely with the culinary team to create artistic elements that complement food presentation and overall guest experiences.
• Produce customized artwork and decorations according to different themes, concepts and operational requirements.
• Maintain high standards of creativity, craftsmanship, cleanliness and attention to detail.
• Properly maintain and care for artistic materials, tools and equipment.
• Demonstrate flexibility and creativity when working with new materials, concepts and techniques.
• Manage materials responsibly and cost efficiently.
• Comply with resort fire, safety, health, and hygiene policies.
• Carry out any other duties as directed by supervisors or senior chefs.

What We're Looking For

• Minimum 3 years' professional experience in a similar role, such as Culinary Artist, Food Artist, Pastry Artist, Decorative Artist or a related creative field.
• Proven ability to design and create a variety of artistic pieces using different materials.
• Previous experience in bread dough art and salt dough art is essential.
• Additional culinary, bakery or pastry experience will be considered a strong advantage.
• Good understanding of food presentation, decoration and visual aesthetics.
• Fluent in English, both written and spoken.
• Excellent creativity, imagination and attention to detail.
• Able to work independently while also contributing effectively as part of a team.
• Able to work effectively in a fast-paced and challenging resort environment.
