Nova Maldives is seeking a passionate Boat Captain to join our soulful island resort!
What You'll Do
- Review schedules daily to prepare for transfers and excursions, understanding guest details and special requirements.
- Prepare and set up boats according to trip needs, ensuring sufficient supplies such as cold towels, beverages, First aids, and rain gear during wet seasons.
- Follow comprehensive checklists to ensure readiness and operational compliance for every trip.
- Ensure boats are clean, fully prepared, and positioned at guest jetties 30 minutes before departure with a groomed crew.
- Prioritize guest comfort and safety throughout all trips.
- Strictly adhere to Maldivian maritime laws and regulations; keep the Seaworthy certificate and Captain’s license on board.
- Maintain the boat and equipment in good working order; report and follow up on maintenance issues promptly with relevant departments.
- Manage boat safety equipment and conduct regular checks on life jackets, fire extinguishers, fuel systems, and navigation aids.
- Assess weather conditions and advise management on trip viability during adverse weather.
- Maintain constant communication with Resort Front Office, Airport team, and crew to coordinate arrivals, departures, and guest requests.
- Handle guest queries professionally and resolve any issues within your authority, and document all incidents thoroughly.
- Collect and relay guest feedback to improve service quality.
- Foster strong team spirit through positive attitude, cooperation, and supporting training initiatives.
- Follow all Resort Standard Operating Procedures, safety policies, and maintain impeccable personal grooming and uniform standards.
- Continuously seek opportunities to contribute ideas for service and operational improvements.
- Perform any additional duties as instructed by management or the Resort General Manager.
What We're Looking For
- Valid Boat Captain’s license in both inboard and outboard vessels and deep knowledge of maritime laws in the Maldives.
- Proven experience in operating and maintaining boats safely in similar hospitality or resort environments.
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to coordinate and motivate crew effectively.
- Excellent organizational skills to manage daily schedules, logistics, and maintenance requirements.
- Exceptional guest service focus with professionalism in communication and problem resolution.
- Ability to assess weather conditions and make sound operational decisions prioritizing safety.
- Good interpersonal skills to liaise proactively with guests, staff, and management.
- Committed to following strict safety, hygiene, and operational standards.
- Positive, proactive attitude with a willingness to participate in ongoing training and development.
- Strong teamwork orientation and flexibility to adapt in a dynamic resort environment.
