About the job FPGA Firmware Engineer
Nova Talent are delighted to be working alongside our client, a world leading provider of Communication Solutions within the Aviation & Defence sectors. We are seeking an experienced and driven FPGA Firmware Engineer to contribute to the full lifecycle of firmware development across our high-performance products and manufacturing test systems. In this role, youll take part in everything from detailed design through to test, integration, and documentation, with a particular focus on FPGA-based DSP systems.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design, develop, and debug embedded firmware using VHDL/Verilog for FPGA platforms
- Develop code, perform unit testing, and support system integration and manufacturing test activities
- Work closely with the Test & Acceptance team to create and execute test plans, and contribute to test reporting
- Produce clear technical documentation and participate in design/code reviews
- Contribute ideas and solutions, and support junior engineers and wider departmental initiatives
What Were Looking For:
- A 1st or 2:1 degree (or equivalent) in Electronics, Computer Engineering, or a related discipline
- Solid understanding of FPGA development, firmware design methodologies, and the full product development lifecycle
- Practical experience in:
- VHDL, Verilog, and C programming
- Embedded firmware/software design and implementation
- Modular SoC designs and DSP techniques
- Simulation, automated test benches, and system validation
- Development in Windows or Linux environments
- Knowledge of communication systems, modulation techniques, and hardware/software co-design is advantageous
- Willingness to contribute to a collaborative engineering environment and guide junior staff
