Summary of Role
The Senior UX Designer is responsible for shaping intuitive, user-centred experiences across complex digital platforms and enterprise systems. This role combines strategic thinking with hands-on design execution, ensuring that complex workflows and data-driven interfaces are translated into seamless, effective user experiences. The successful candidate will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to deliver impactful, high-quality design solutions.
Responsibilities
- Lead the design of end-to-end user experiences for complex digital products and enterprise platforms.
- Translate business requirements and user needs into intuitive, user-centred design solutions.
- Create and refine user journeys, wireframes, prototypes, and high-fidelity designs.
- Simplify complex workflows, data-heavy interfaces, and decision-support tools into clear and usable designs.
- Collaborate closely with Product, Engineering, and Business stakeholders throughout the design lifecycle.
- Produce developer-ready design specifications and artefacts to support efficient implementation.
- Ensure consistency by contributing to and maintaining design systems and UX standards.
- Conduct and apply usability testing, user research, and feedback to continuously improve designs.
- Advocate for user-centred design principles across teams and stakeholders.
- Work independently in a senior capacity while mentoring junior designers where required.
Qualifications
- Matric and a Tertiary Degree
- Minimum 7+ years' experience as a UX Designer working on complex digital products or platforms.
- Proven experience designing enterprise or operational systems.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently in senior, hands-on roles.
- Strong experience collaborating with cross-functional teams (Product, Engineering, Business).
- Experience with data-heavy, workflow-driven, or decision-support applications is highly beneficial.
- Exposure to agriculture, agri-tech, industrial, or field-based environments is advantageous but not required.
Skills
- Strong proficiency in UX design tools (e.g., Figma, Sketch, Adobe XD or similar).
- Expertise in:
- User journey mapping
- Interaction design
- Information architecture
- Usability design
- Ability to simplify complex workflows and data into intuitive user experiences.
- Strong understanding of responsive design and application-based UX patterns.
- Experience producing developer-ready design artefacts, including detailed specifications and design handovers.
- Familiarity with design systems, accessibility standards, and usability best practices.
