Senior Accountant
Job Description:
A well established company in the earthmoving and mining industry is currently recruiting for a detail-oriented and experienced Senior Accountant to oversee general accounting operations by controlling and verifying our financial transactions in Isando, Kempton Park
The ideal candidate will have a solid understanding of accounting principles, financial reporting, financial planning, risk management, budgeting, leadership experience, and regulatory compliance, along with strong analytical and organizational skill and a solid understanding of financial regulations.
Minimum Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or a related field (Masters or MBA preferred)
- CPA, CMA, CFA or equivalent certification preferred
- 5-10 years of progressive experience in financial management, accounting, or related roles
- Strong knowledge of GAAP and accounting standards
- Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., Acumatica, QuickBooks, SAP, Microsoft) with Acumatica experience a massive advantage
- Experience with ERP systems and financial reporting tools
- Knowledge of tax reporting and compliance
- Experience in strategic planning and business development
- Understanding of international finance and multi-currency environments (for global firms)
- Excellent attention to detail and problem-solving abilities
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines
- Familiarity with inventory, job costing, and project-based accounting
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare and review journal entries, account reconciliations, and general ledger operations
- Ensure timely and accurate monthly, quarterly, and year-end close processes
- Develop, manage, and oversee the companys financial planning and analysis (FP&A) processes
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports, forecasts, and variance analyses
- Support strategic initiatives and business planning through financial modeling and analysis
- Assist in preparing financial statements in compliance with GAAP (or IFRS)
- Analyze financial data and provide insights to support strategic decision-making
- Manage internal controls, financial audits, and risk assessments
- Support audits (internal and external) by providing documentation and explanations
- Manage internal controls, policies, procedures and risk assessments
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports, forecasts, and variance analyses
- Provide mentorship and guidance to all staff required
- Supervise and mentor finance/accounting staff, ensuring efficient team performance
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support operational and financial goals
