My client, a large consulting engineering firm, seeks a dynamic Engineering Project Coordinator to join the team in Markham, Ontario. This role is pivotal in executing land development projects within the land development team.
What will you do:
- Executes ICI site plan, civil conceptual and detailed design (grading, servicing, SWM), including functional servicing reports, earthworks, downstream sanitary capacity studies, construction management plans, salt management plans, and peer reviews.
- Coordinate with other disciplines as required (architect, building mechanical, structural, electrical, geotechnical, hydrogeology, transportation, landscape architecture, etc.), ensuring all tasks are carried out efficiently and effectively. Work with project teams to understand clear timelines, milestones, and deliverables.
- Sources the requirements of all the approval authorities (municipal, provincial, and federal, such as DFO, conservation authorities, MTO, MECP, MNR, etc.),
- Maps out the required application sequence, assembles the packages, submits them, and follows up as necessary to secure approval.
- Coordinate client and co-consultant meetings and associated administration
- Address concerns, provide updates, and resolve issues as they arise.
- Construction administration: quantity takeoffs, tender prep, RFIs, bid analysis/award, field observations/inspections (pre-design site assessments and during/post construction) and certifications
- Sharing knowledge by coaching and mentoring junior staff and peers
- Assists with business development/proposals
- Handles Project administration (digital setup)
What you bring to the role:
- A civil engineering degree or diploma
- Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in land development or municipal project management, with a proven track record of coordinating projects.
- Must be P.Eng., EIT or CET
- Proficiency in CADD, Civil3D, SWM software, and MS Office Suite. Knowledge of municipal regulations, zoning laws, and environmental standards.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills. Ability to interact professionally with various stakeholders
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to anticipate challenges and proactively implement solutions.
- Strong organizational and leadership abilities with experience working in cross-functional teams. Able to work effectively with various departments and external partners.
- Familiarity with local zoning codes, land use policies, and environmental regulations.
