Labor & Employment Associate (Attorney)

 Job Description:

We are working with a prominent, regional firm seeking a Labor & Employment Associate with at least two years of experience to join their Buffalo, Rochester, Syracuse, or Albany office.

Ideal candidates will have experience performing research, writing and other work relating to all areas of labor and employment law including, but not limited to, traditional labor/union issues, collective bargaining matters, discrimination laws and litigation, wage and hour law and other laws impacting the employment relationship. They will be responsible for performing research on a variety of labor and employment matters; drafting handbooks and policies; drafting position statements and response to administrative charges (EEOC, NY State Division of Human Rights, CT Commission on Human Rights and Opportunities); communicating with clients to obtain information for position statements; drafting motions in federal and state court; responding to discovery requests; drafting deposition outlines, preparing exhibits, preparing witnesses, and acting as first and second chair at depositions; and assisting partners in preparing for mediations, arbitrations, oral arguments, hearings and trials.

The candidate must have experience with New York State Court and Federal Court practice, excellent oral and written communication skills, excellent research and writing skills, strong analytical and problem-solving skills, high level organizational skills, the ability to manage competing priorities, and the ability to function effectively in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment. New York Bar admission required. Admission to the Connecticut Bar or ability to waive in is preferred.
