Job Title: CAD Drafter

Role Description:
The CAD Drafter is responsible for developing detailed and accurate technical drawings, 3D models, and documentation for joinery and timber fabrication projects. This role ensures design accuracy, buildability, and quality compliance throughout the project lifecycle. The CAD Drafter collaborates closely with the Production Manager and factory teams to align designs with construction methods, meet project timelines, and maintain high standards of quality control.

Responsibilities:

Design Implementation:

  • Identify key specifications to create Job Brief based on project documentation.
  • Develop buildability and method of construction/installation for all joinery and timber fabrications.
  • Produce quality shop drawings for architect/client review/sign off.
  • Quality reports on shop drawings
  • Produce machine-ready 3D Pytha files based on signed off shop drawings.
  • Closely follow schedules and deadlines to meet project delivery timelines.

Project Coordination:

  • Troubleshooting with Production manager
  • Close involvement in the factory works schedule to meet project delivery programs.
  • Input to procurement process according to the requirements of the project program.
  • In conjunction with Production manager and factory foreman, implement and manage product Quality control systems including internal sign off and hold points, project information control and sample/prototype sign off.
  • Take ownership of ongoing assessment and refinement of operational workflows and systems.
  • Use T-sheets accurately to report all hours to correct jobs.

Estimating:

  • Measure and take off plans to provide accurate project BOQs
  • Prepare project scopes and run subcontractor and supplier tenders
  • Prepare project tenders
  • Identify opportunities to improve estimating processes and drive efficiencies
  • Control and maintain the company's estimating software Cubit (BuildSoft)
  • Maintain record keeping and filing in relation to all the above.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in architecture, engineering, drafting, or any related field.
  • Preferably with at least 2-3 years of relevant experience.

Must have:

  • Experience in Joinery or the furniture industry
  • Experience in Pytha software
  • Design experience
  • CAD experience
  • Proficient in Microsoft Applications
  • Experience in Microsoft Project is an advantage
  • Excellent English communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Understanding of architectural and engineering principles
  • Great attention to detail and organization skills
