Role Overview: As a Sales Estimator, you support the Sales & Estimating pillar by preparing accurate, competitive, and profitable cost estimates for luxury architectural stonework projects. You help convert client opportunities into successful projects by combining strong technical estimating skills with commercial awareness and clear communication.
You lead your own tasks effectively and manage time, money, and resources to ensure estimates reflect client requirements while protecting company margins and aligning with factory and site capabilities.
Key Responsibilities
Project Analysis & Estimation
- Analyse architectural drawings, specifications, and client requirements to prepare detailed and accurate cost estimates.
- Calculate quantities and costs for materials (marble, granite, engineered stone), labour, installation, and overheads.
- Identify potential risks, challenges, and cost-saving opportunities without compromising quality.
Client & Stakeholder Engagement
- Communicate clearly with clients, architects, designers, and builders to gather necessary information and clarify scope.
- Assist in preparing and presenting professional proposals and quotations.
- Provide timely responses to client enquiries and support follow-up activities.
Internal Coordination
- Collaborate with the Operations and Production Manager, Factory Foreman Manager, and Site Foreman Manager to ensure estimates are realistic and deliverable.
- Work with Procurement & Supply Chain to obtain accurate material pricing and availability.
- Ensure smooth handover of won projects to the Operations team with complete documentation.
Supplier & Vendor Liaison
- Obtain and evaluate quotes from suppliers and subcontractors.
- Support negotiations to achieve cost-efficient outcomes while maintaining quality standards.
Record Keeping & Reporting
- Maintain accurate records of all estimates, quotes, and related documentation.
- Track estimate outcomes (wins/losses) and contribute to continuous improvement of estimating processes and templates.
Required Skills & Experience
- 2–5 years' experience in estimating, preferably in stone fabrication, architectural stonework, construction, or a related custom manufacturing field.
- Strong ability to read and interpret architectural drawings and specifications.
- Good understanding of stone materials, fabrication processes, and installation methods.
- Proficiency with estimating software and advanced Excel skills.
- Solid mathematical and analytical skills with high attention to detail.
- Construction or trade background is highly regarded.
