About the Role:

We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Junior Financial Accountant to join our dynamic Head Office Finance Team. In this role, you will be responsible for supporting the month-end close process for a portfolio of smaller companies, assisting the Financial Accountant with various reconciliations and journal entries, and providing administrative support for company secretarial tasks.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Month-End Close Process:
    • Prepare and post journal entries for assigned companies.
    • Reconcile balance sheet accounts and investigate discrepancies.
    • Assist in preparing monthly management accounts and reports.
    • Assist with month end reporting submission.
    • Ensure timely and accurate completion of month-end tasks.
  • Financial Accounting Support:
    • Assist the Financial Accountant with bank reconciliations, accruals, prepayments, and other accounting tasks.
    • Prepare and process purchase orders.
    • Maintain accurate and organized financial records.
  • Company Secretarial Assistance:
    • Assist with the preparation and filing of company secretarial documents.
    • Complete and submit various forms and applications.
    • Maintain statutory records and registers.
  • Trust Accounting:
    • Process month-end accounting entries for various trusts.
    • Reconcile trust accounts and prepare related reports and management packs.
  • Other Duties:
    • Provide administrative support to the Finance Team as needed.
    • Assist with ad hoc projects and tasks.

Desired Skills and Experiences:

  • Education: Minimum Grade 12 with accounting as a subject.
  • Experience: Previous experience as a Junior Accountant or in a similar role is advantageous.
  • Skills:
    • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
    • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
    • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel.
    • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
    • Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
    • Strong problem-solving abilities.
    • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
  • Other Requirements:
    • Own reliable transportation.
    • Willingness to work overtime when required.
    • Commitment to working from the office.
